ECAD is Europe's leading organization promoting a drug free Europe and representing millions of European citizens. Drug dealing and drug abuse cause enormous problems in Europe. Nations and their citizens are affected by the consequences of drug abuse. ECAD member cities work to develop initiatives and efforts against drug abuse supporting the United Nations Conventions which oppose legalization and promote policies to eradicate drug abuse worldwide.     Drug prevention - what works?
    An open workshop of Youth in Europe - a drug prevention programme
    An open workshop on the status of the prevention programme Youth in Europe and the ways of limiting the demand for illegal drugs took place in Istanbul the day before the 14th Mayors`Conference.
    Two working sessions were planned for the day, including an overview of the preliminary results of surveys in 9 European cities and a discussion of the evidence to ensure success in the preventive work.
    Specialists in the field from the USA commented on the progress;
    we received prof. Kathleen M. Roe, San Jose state university and prof. John Allegrante, Columbia university.
